Hub International Vice President, National Employee Benefits Operations (Remote) in Toronto, Ontario

Position Summary :

HUB International has grown to become the largest Employee Benefit Consulting Firm in Canada, with revenue over $130m and our retirement services with $23bn of assets under management. We are seeking a strong operational leader to join our National Employee Benefits and Retirement practice. The Vice President (VP) National Employee Benefits Operations will work with our regional leadership to deliver and support many of our national objectives, specifically: Maximizing use of all available systems, creating consistent workflow processes/practices across all regions, ensuring consistency in data, supporting our 3C partnerships, and leveraging our best practices across our national platform. The VP, National Employee Benefits Operations would also provide strategic guidance on how to optimize our current structure and leverage current resources and create a shared support model for EB/Retirement in Canada. This may include housing national support and best practices for: Retirement, Strategic Resources (Communications & Design, Health & Performance, Pharmacy, Digital, Actuarial). This role would also oversee consistent licensing and compliance practices for Employee Benefits, along with overseeing final payments post M&A. This position is remote with travel as need to the various HUB offices across Canada.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Participate in strategic discussions to determine best future state and develop plans and to achieve organizational goals

  • Provide guidance and leadership to regional operations leaders

  • Develop service models to drive margin and support cross sell

  • Execute & support implementation of new products, services, and vendor offerings

  • Establish/maintain contracts/agreements for external partners/vendors

  • Oversee development, launch and adoption of HUB’s EB Shared Services

  • Onboard best practices for new and existing clients

  • Develop a consistent data input model, to help create consistency of data under management

  • Work towards an ideal state of records/data management within EB & Retirement

  • Leverage all available data to make sound business decisions

  • Financial reporting of:

  • Anticipated annual revenue (in all forms). Forecasting and retrospective analyses.

  • Marketing activities and all outcomes

  • Detailed commission analysis (year over year comparisons, by client, reported nationally and by region)

  • Develop best practices for workflow processes and service guidelines across EB Canada

  • Manage adoption across all regions

  • Monitor for success

  • Scale as business requires

  • Work with training and development resources across Canada to ensure ongoing and consistent training of team members across EB & Retirement

  • Work in partnership with EB Leadership team & corporate leadership team to develop Digital solutions for EB & Retirement

  • Work with our Data Scientist and analytics team to deliver quarterly in force business dashboard for EB and Retirement

  • Work with EB & Retirement Leadership Team to foster strong, successful partnerships with our “3C” Partners, specifically:

  • Develop a 3C partner balanced scorecard and participate in quarterly partner meetings

  • Manage all 3C Agreements

  • Deliver monthly 3C revenue forecast

  • Work with Finance to manage/monitor payments

  • Support Hub’s mergers & acquisition strategy by:

  • Participating in strategic and diligence discussions, as required

  • Onboarding new acquisitions by HUB and supporting adoption of our EB shared services

  • Seeking input for future improvements & new product captures in EPIC

  • Providing guidance to regional teams as to data captured at conversion to EPIC

  • Maintain HUB’s Broker Standards for EB & Retirement by:

  • Developing baseline expectations for brokers

  • Managing Licensing, Compliance & regulatory requirements

  • Developing new processes that meet changing regulatory guidelines

  • Managing consistent implementation of new compliance practices across EB Canada

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Active Life License an asset

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in the employee benefit or financial services industry

  • Strong financial acumen and significant experience with data management, financial reporting, budgeting, and dashboard development.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Strong change management skills

  • People Management experience

  • Excellent Time Management Skills

  • Bilingual (French/English) an asset

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Solid work ethic, reliable and passionate about achieving results

Department General Management

Required Experience: 10-15 years of relevant experience

Required Travel: Up to 25%
