The Independent Business Practice is looking for a dynamic and results oriented Account Manager to join their growing and fast paced Commercial Practice in the HUB Toronto office. The ideal candidate possesses strong Property & Casualty experience with a strong generalist background. This is an ideal role for someone who is hands-on, and client focused. This role reports to the Vice President, Commercial Insurance. This is an ideal role for someone looking to move into a Account Manager role with a good commercial insurance foundation.

Client Service

  • Work collaboratively in a team-based structure with an assigned Assistant to retain and grow existing portfolios.

  • Effective client management of all assigned accounts, ensuring client retention and satisfaction.

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities and current client up-sell/cross-sell opportunities.

  • Manage renewal list, working 120 days ahead.

  • Marketing: Gather and identify relevant information for the client or prospects’ circumstances and places their deal in the marketplace.

  • Maintains acceptable results on receivables. Escalates action for any unresolved, outstanding client premiums.

  • Manage client accounts in EPIC (Broker management system)

  • Manage CORE for new business (Sales production tool)

  • Account business planning, budgeting and forecasting. Participates in the annual budget planning process.

  • Coaching and mentoring to teammates.

  • Establish networks and partnerships for a diverse book of business.

  • Participates in industry networking functions, training and professional development courses to enhance skills industry knowledge.

  • Participating in Underwriter conference calls and meetings.

  • Reports monthly on the results of book

  • Report claims and engage/provide claims advocacy; Engage claims team on critical claims matters.

  • Review client legal contract facts as required (ie. Insurance lease requirements etc.)

  • Formal participation/completion of performance reviews for direct reports.(as required)

  • Maintain Hub workflows; Provide suggestions for continuous improvements in workflows and procedures for sales and service.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Post-Secondary Education or equivalent work experience

  • RIBO Licensed

  • CIP, CAIB or CRM Designation or in progress (an asset)

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience managing accounts in Commercial Property & Casualty

  • Experience with managing commercial small to mid-sized accounts

  • Experience with EPIC or TAM, broker management system (an asset)

  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Strong organizational, time and client management skills

  • Effective communication skills: verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Strong team player and ability to work independently

  • Proactive and customer focused approach

  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance industry trends

  • May involve some client travel (GTA)
