SUMMARY:

A Benefit Analyst (BA) assists the Benefit Consultants (BC) and Account Managers (AM) in the day-to-day needs of the business. Typical functions include but not limited to gathering and auditing benefit information along with experience reports and billing. Composing quote requests and sending them to insurance carriers asking them to bid on health and ancillary plans for the employer/client. Preparing spreadsheets to display and communicate rates, total cost, plan designs and claims experience in a professional format to present to clients. In addition, there are also responsible for quarterlies, benchmarking, and other various reports. The BA is responsible for following the “renewal time-line” and completing all renewal tasks in a timely manner. The job of the BA is to do anything and everything possible to keep the Benefits Consultant and Account Manager on the road and in front of the client. The BA is also responsible for new business quoting as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Tracking renewal dates

  • Sending, tracking, and following up on quote / RFP requests to carriers

  • Scheduling appointments for the BC and AM to present proposal information

  • Preparing spreadsheets to display and communicate carrier information for presentation to clients

  • Updating/documentation of renewal plan information

  • Updating client files as changes are implemented

  • Prepare and comprehend Quarterly/Monthly Reports

  • Assisting BC and AM in reviewing contracts of sold plans

  • Provide direct client service for group employee benefit plan administration

  • Coordinates appropriate documentation for medical, dental, vision, life, and disability eligibility enrollment and/or claims

  • Maintains and updates workflow documentation as necessary

  • Maintaining clear communication in team meetings with BC and AM regarding your team’s block of business

  • Following up with clients to obtain updated census information

  • Assisting BC with various tasks such as assisting in implementation process, executive summaries, wellness projects, etc.

  • Provide all necessary reporting to the Finance Department in a timely manner

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-2 years of insurance experience strongly preferred

  • Superior customer service and critical thinking skills with the ability to work in a team environment

  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with computer systems, Microsoft Office, and automated agency management systems

  • Must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal English communications skills

  • Creates or modifies processes/procedures to simplify tasks

  • Ability or adaptability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma required. College degree preferred.

  • A working knowledge of employee benefit plans, understanding HMOs, PPOs, HSAs, indemnity plans, as well as ancillary coverage such as life, disability, dental and voluntary insurances preferred.
