A Consultant Support Specialist assists the Benefit Consultant in the day-to-day needs of the business. Typical functions include but are not limited to sending quote requests to insurance carriers asking them to bid on health and ancillary plans for the employer/client, preparing spreadsheets to display and communicate this information and present to clients. The CSS is responsible for following the “renewal time-line” and completing all renewal tasks in a timely manner. The job of the CSS is to do anything and everything possible to keep the Benefits Consultant on the road and in front of the client. The CSS is also responsible for new business quoting for the Producer.

- Timelines/Business Flow (30%)
Tracking renewal dates and sending 125 day advance renewal notification letters to clients
Sending, tracking and following up on carrier quotes (online or RFP) for medical and ancillary lines
Scheduling appointments for the Benefit Consultant to present proposal information
- Administrative Processes (35%)
Maintaining accuracy on a consistent basis
Insuring census data and client information is correct
Preparing spreadsheets to display and communicate carrier information for presentation to client based on Benefit Consultant’s recommendations
- Internal and External Communication (25%)
Updating CRM/Team Meeting Reports with all stages of timeline
Following up with clients to obtain updated census information & Medical Information on groups that require a RAQ to be completed; preparation of specific carrier RAQ’s for client
- Special Projects – Can include, but not limited to preparing PPT presentations and other various consultant client requests (10%)
Reports to:Client Service Manager
High school diploma, minimally.College degree preferred.
A working knowledge of employee benefit plans, understanding HMOs, PPOs, HSAs, indemnity plans, as well as ancillary coverage such as life, disability, dental and voluntary insurances is preferred.
