The Opportunity

Reporting to Canada West's President, the Chief Sales Officer (CSO) role is the most senior sales leader who is responsible for meeting overall growth and profitability targets. This person is responsible for the direction and management of all sales and business development initiatives, for all lines of business in coordination with the Executive Management Team (EMT) and Regional business leaders (Sales & Operations Leaders). We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a passion for business and sales growth to join our Executive Management Team leading sales for British Columbia branches and sales professionals.

Our corporate office for BC is located in Chilliwack in the Fraser Valley. This location offers a fantastic lifestyle, recreational activities, affordability, and growth in one of BC’s fastest-growing communities.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop annual business plans and revenue budget for organic growth, new business, retention, new products, and new opportunities

  • Develop annual business plans with sales leaders across all lines of business that, when executed, will meet targets, and maximize every opportunity, for all lines of business

  • Monitors revenue line of P&L statements and takes appropriate corrective action when necessary to ensure targets are met

  • Manage Sales Pipeline and provide forecasting insights

  • Lead producer recruitment and development initiatives

  • Book of business reviews and recommendations for maximizing profitability as well as book transfers and trade rights

  • Establish, review and amend as required for incentive and sales plans

  • Coordinate sales resources and teams across the province and specialty practices

  • Sales VPs report directly to CSO and maintain responsibility for their regional P&Ls and sales goals with your oversight and agreement.

  • Establish and maintain market relationships in conjunction with CMO

  • High-level for organizational presence

  • Day-to-day to leverage new opportunities

  • Open doors of opportunity, rainmaking, promote sales talent, and introduce to prospects

  • Lead Critical Path meetings in conjunction with Chief Marketing Officer

  • Participate actively in the business and industry to build a network of contacts that improve the presence and reputation of the organization

  • Approve and manage all awards and sales contests locally and nationally along with a team

  • Participate as required and expected with all HUB Corporate initiatives, meetings, and conferences in Canada and USA.

  • Talent Management for producer relations (respecting direct reporting lines)

The Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of insurance brokerage experience in a sales role

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing talent

  • Industry designation preferred (CAIB, CIP, FCIP, CRM)

  • Highest level of expertise in professional sales

  • Deep understanding of the sales processes for all lines of business

  • Ability to plan and manage at the strategic level

  • Ability to work collaboratively with direct reports and colleagues to create a results-driven and team-oriented environment

  • Ability to support and motivate sales professionals

  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a variety of individuals (internal and external)

  • Applicable licensing for P&C Insurance

  • Commitment to continued learning & development for Leadership & Management, Sales, and client experience
