Hub International Senior Systems Engineer, Microsoft and Messaging in Chicago, Illinois
The Sr. Engineer, Microsoft & Messaging will help HUB International modernize the IT environment by identifying problems, evaluating options, designing solutions, and executing on deployment of best-practices based infrastructure across a broad set of on-premises and cloud-based technologies.
Deliver cost-effective, enterprise-scale, highly available infrastructure on-premises and in the cloud with a focus on automation, supportability, and standards.
Design and implement a best-practices messaging and collaboration platform built on a hybrid Azure AD/Office 365 and on-premises Active Directory environment including Exchange, Teams, Skype for Business, OneDrive, Yammer, SharePoint, and supporting tools.
Create documentation and standard operating procedures for all build and deployed infrastructure.
Proactively identify potential issues with performance, capacity, usability, or supportability and design solutions to continuously improve the infrastructure environments.
Collaborate with IT and business teams to deliver appropriate solutions.
Act as senior escalation point for assigned technologies, providing support to other engineering and operations team members.
Mentor and train individuals on best-practices, troubleshooting, and automation.
Understand industry trends and provide input on infrastructure lifecycle and what’s next for HUB International’s IT Infrastructure.
Participate in major incident reviews, assisting in the identification of root cause and remediation needed to permanently restore service.
6+ years of senior level enterprise experience with the following technologies:
Microsoft Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019)
Active Directory and Azure AD
Office 365 – Exchange Online, Teams, Skype for Business Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive
Intune and System Center products
Microsoft Identity Manager
Exchange (2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019)
ADFS, SSO, and SAML
5+ years of experience with scripting (Powershell and/or Python)
5+ years of experience acting as technical subject matter expert (SME) on one or more of the following types of enterprise projects:
Skype for Business Online to Teams migration
Exchange 2013 to 2016/2019 Upgrade
Microsoft Identity Manager upgrade
Server upgrade or migration
Automation and standardization implementation
3+ years of experience with enterprise journaling and e-discovery tools (Enterprise Vault Cloud and SMARSH)
AWS, Azure, and/or Nutanix
Strong leadership skills with ability to see projects and initiatives through to completion.
Demonstrated high level analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify new opportunities and technical methods to solve business problems.
Microsoft of other industry certifications preferred.
