Hub International Senior Manager, Technology Business Partner in Chicago, Illinois
The Sr. Manager, Technology Business Partner will provide leadership and direction on the newly established Business Partner team. Reporting to the Director, IT Business Partner, this person will identify the critical business capabilities which are required to enable business strategy and meet business objectives. Will collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and the Business Analysis team to develop solution roadmaps. Will collaborate with business and IT executives, to prioritize and drive investment decisions taking a portfolio management approach. Strong EQ is a must. Success in this role is 100% dependent on ability to develop trust through relationship-building, both with senior business executives as well as with IT leaders and their teams. The Sr. Manager, Technology BP will follow HUB's Business Capability Framework methodology, and be expected to continually enhance and adapt the framework over time. Job Description / Duties:
Leadership / Relationship Management
Establish strong relationships and high level of trust with key leaders in the business units
Grow strong relationships with IT colleagues; know how to navigate the IT organization, be able to inspire support and good business partnership throughout all levels IT
Help drive HUB's transformation to a culture of long-term business capability growth
Support the Director, IT Business Process in developing and implementing the BP team objectives and strategy; own and drive execution
As needed, be able to provide team leadership to support the Director, BP
Business Capability and Strategy
Collaborate with business leaders to identify business capability needs
Participate in IT strategy creation; align enterprise and Business Unit strategies
Work with Enterprise Architecture to develop solution investment roadmap
Help transform Business-IT investment planning so demand is understood and communicated within a framework that connects needs to business objectives and strategy
Continually learn the business; understand and be able to articulate business strategies, objectives and priorities to IT colleagues, functional leaders, and HUB executives
Support BU benefits realization; demonstrate how projects are driving desired business outcomes
Explain technical concepts and solutions to business audience
Portfolio Management / Governance
Plan and manage annual IT investment portfolio for BU's and corporate functions; develop budget and priorities collaborating with BU & IT executives, Finance, and the PMO
Coordinate with business unit counterparts to shape ongoing business demand to ensure alignment with overall business needs framework and BU strategy
With a mind on capacity and budget, bring a perspective on continual re-prioritization and investment trade-offs within the portfolio
Facilitate prioritization discussions; drive enterprise to the right IT investment decisions
Coordinate resources from across the PMO, Business Analysis, and Enterprise Architecture to analyze proposed initiatives
Own and drive business cases, collaborating with business stakeholders, PMO, and IT Delivery colleagues; define scope, ROI, risks, staffing requirements, and financial needs
Collaborate closely with the PMO Governance to constantly improve the Business Case intake and management process
Own and manage portfolio of IT-enabled business projects
Hold project managers and other implementation resources accountable for successful delivery of business outcomes
Participate in project and program steering committees
Be the voice of the customer; represent business interests on projects
Reporting and Tracking Continuous Improvement
Assess maturity of Business Partnership with BU's; collaborate with BU leadership to set tangible improvement goals; track quarterly progress and report periodic updates to BU
Show full cost transparency to business; enable business leaders to understand the value they receive for the budget they spend on IT services
Communicate closely with VP IT Infrastructure & Operations to ensure day to day services are delivered to business units at expected, according to SLA's
Build out and deliver IT health scorecards for the BU's
Bachelor's Degree, MBA a plus
10+ years of IT leadership / management experience
3+ years experience in a Business Partnership, Business Relationship Manager (BRM) or similar
Track record of developing and managing trusting relationship with executives and other leaders
Excellent at presentation and persuasion; know how to adjust message for the audience
Have worked with business executives in developing IT strategy and roadmaps
Deeply experienced at writing and presenting business cases within formal governance structure
Experience delivering highly complex IT programs and projects
IT investment portfolio management experience
Passionate about delivering business value to business partners and end users
Customer centric mindset that anticipates business needs and responds positively to feedback
Ability to lead and motivate others; demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types
High aptitude for explaining complex concepts to executive and business audiences
Deep experience in standard delivery methodology (waterfall and agile)
Proficient at driving transformational change in large organization with varied stakeholders
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Project, Visio, and SharePoint
Highly Desired Qualifications:
Insurance or insurance brokerage industry experience
Fortune 100 or Big Consulting experience
Digital Product Management / Ownership
Have led or made significant contributions to a digital transformation program
M&A integration experience
Enterprise Architecture experience
