Hub International Senior Manager, Business Analysis in Chicago, Illinois

The Senior Manager, Business Analysis will build and lead a high performing Business Analysis function for HUB International. This experienced leader will strengthen and grow the recently established B.A. team through implementing standard methodologies and best practices, as well as by focusing on individual skill-building and career development. The team will provide a variety of business analysis services that contribute to the design and delivery of business-enabling IT solutions, including current and future state process mapping, gap analysis, and requirements definition. The Senior Manager will bring thought leadership; and be responsible for ensuring the team is enabled with, and knowledgeable of, appropriate tools, methods, and processes needed to provide these B.A. services. This key leader within the CIO's organization will establish trust through relationship building, and espouse a philosophy of collaboration, both with other IT leaders and business unit colleagues. Will enthusiastically pursue deep understanding of the business at both a strategic and tactical level, setting the example for the team. Will establish foundational business analysis capability, which leads the way for delivering highly usable, high-value-add IT solutions that generate excitement for HUB colleagues and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Clearly articulate the purpose and value of the Business Analysis team within IT and within the overall enterprise; be an evangelist for the B.A. capability

  • Hire and develop talented Business Analysis professionals

  • Define roles and responsibilities within the BA team so that people clearly understand their career path options and are motivated to grow

  • Work with Business Partner team and PMO to understand enterprise priorities; allocate B.A. resources accordingly; monitor team capacity vs. demand; make case for hiring as needed

  • Coordinate with PMO and Business Partner Team to help build out IT solution roadmaps; align and develop resources to execute against roadmaps

  • Establish and enhance business analysis methods, tools, and templates

  • Collaborate with Business Partner team to write cost-benefit analyses and build business cases

  • Drive team to facilitate requirements elicitation; capture requirements in formal deliverables; prioritize; document user stories, build and manage backlogs

  • Develop skillsets within the team for both waterfall agile environments

  • Present to variety of audiences, including executives, project teams, vendors, customers

  • Provide thought leadership; stay current on insurance industry trends and HUB's enterprise strategy; pursue knowledge of latest business analysis methods, techniques, and tools

  • Measure, Monitor and Improve the overall efforts of our Business Analysis team

  • Drive the implementation of a BA maturity model

Qualifications:

  • Excellent judge of talent, especially in the Business Analyst space; experience recruiting and hiring IT professionals

  • Minimum five years of experience leading a team of Business Analysts, preferably in the insurance industry; (experience building a team from ground up is a bonus!)

  • 2-4 Years of experience directly working as a B.A., facilitating requirements sessions with business stakeholders, documenting user stories, prioritizing features backlog; etc.

  • Fluent in methodologies and templates used for both agile and waterfall

  • Familiarity and experience with project management processes & tools

  • Great relationship builder; record of building trust with critical stakeholders

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communications ability with empathetic listening skills

  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

  • Negotiation and Diplomacy through solid interpersonal skills

  • High aptitude with Industry standard methodologies and models (waterfall, Rapid Application Development, SCRUM, Kanban, etc.)

  • High aptitude with tools such as Visio, Atlassian Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Strong business acumen; ability to understand business models quickly

  • Familiar with design thinking

  • This position reports into Chicago and can be based anywhere in the U.S. (remote)
