Hub International Program Manager in Chicago, Illinois

HUB’s dynamic and growing EPMO has an opportunity for a program manager to step in and lead high-performing teams on mission critical, enterprise-changing initiatives. We are currently looking for an experienced program manager to drive continued success.The ideal candidate will have a sharp business and technology mind with a proven ability to strategize and implement high-level program initiatives; someone who is an amazing communicator, who is ready for the spotlight, welcomes challenges, and always drives for the best business outcome is a perfect fit for this role. The program manager will be a natural leader with a strong talent for project coordination, execution, and delegation.The program manager is anticipated to contribute to the intellectual strength of the EPMO team, work with a mindset of continual improvement and mentor junior EPMO team members. This leader will have primary responsibility for delivery as well as opportunities for shaping and managing demand, working with business counterparts to develop solutions, and build business cases.Full command and in-depth experience across waterfall development methodology as well as Agile framework is required.Ultimately, the program manager is motivated by the desire to optimize productivity and nurture program success from inception to completion while bringing others along and elevating the team.

Primary Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Strategize, implement, and lead complex, high visibility programs toward achieving critical IT-enabled business objectives

  • Develop in-depth understanding of HUB's business goals in order to plan and execute effective program delivery strategy

  • Provide leadership and motivation to program team members across multiple simultaneous initiatives

  • Oversee multiple project teams, ensuring program goals are reached; Manage program teams for optimal return-on-investment, and coordinate and delegate cross-project initiatives

  • Work with other program managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department

  • Develop program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement

  • Maintain EPMO and HUB standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance of programs

  • Create collaborative environment among business teams, internal IT teams, and vendors

  • Hold vendors and strategic partners accountable for delivering the scope, timeline, and business benefits as promised in statements of work

  • Understand and anticipate the priorities of the business through building productive working relationships with HUB business colleagues

  • Develop high level of IT organizational agility; understand HUB's enterprise solutions and pursue effective relationships with the IT teams that support and enhance these solutions

  • Manage key stakeholders; communicate critical project information, and actionable insights to the right stakeholders at the right time

  • Implement course correction measures at initial signs of trouble to ensure healthy scope, schedule, budget, and business value

  • Coordinate with business liaisons and organizational change management resources to ensure end-user impacts are properly communicated and adopted

  • Build relationships with IT Operations teams to coordinate smooth transitions into production

  • Collaborate with EPMO colleagues on team initiatives to enhance EPMO delivery methodologies; grow organizational capabilities across both traditional waterfall and agile delivery approaches

  • Contribute to project intake process; help manage incoming demand; help develop business cases


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 10+ years’ worth of experience working in key roles on major delivery initiatives

  • At least 7-years’ worth of experience acting in the lead delivery role on large, complex programs

  • Effectively delivered initiatives that have had disruptive impact on high number of users

  • Passionate about delivering business value to business partners and end-users

  • Customer centric mindset that anticipates business needs and responds positively to feedback

  • The ability to identify and resolve unforeseen problems that could arise in a program

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple programs that vary in scope and size

  • Ability to lead and motivate others, demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types

  • Experience managing multiple executive stakeholders

  • Successfully held vendors accountable for delivery

  • Excellent writing, interpersonal communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Outstanding working knowledge of change management principles

  • Excellent at presentation and persuasion; know how to adjust message for the audience

  • High aptitude for explaining complex concepts to executive and business audiences

  • Desire to learn

  • Experienced in standard (waterfall) delivery methodology

  • Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office Suite, and Sharepoint

  • Travel required: 5% travel across our North American HUBs (US and Canada)

  • This position reports into Chicago and can be based anywhere in the U.S. (i.e. remote/virtual)
