Operations Analyst - Insurance Chicago, IL
HUB International Midwest Limited has an exciting opportunity for an Insurance Operations Analyst, who will be accountable for understanding the business requirements, system processing implications and data needs for our Duck Creek on Demand system in our organization. The role will partner with both Business leaders and IT resources to translate business needs into system requirements and technical specifications. This role will require you to work together with the delivery leads to deliver the products that meet and/or exceed our business customer expectations within the policy and billing vertical.
*** the chosen candidate will need to obtain and maintain applicable Duck Creek certifications to fulfil role.This involves taking all of the Business Analyst classes related to the BA role in the policy, billing, insights and party product offerings at Duck Creek University as well as obtaining Business Analyst and Author certifications.Access to the training, and associated training time will be provided by HUB.
** Prior Duck Creek experience preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
·Lead internal team discussions with respect to base functionality and customization
·Identification and documentation of business gaps for functional and integration needs
·Experience working with both on Onsite and Offshore application support models
·Analyze, design, optimize and validate future business processes.
·Work with the business architect and other planners to assess current capabilities and identify business requirements.
·Identify and define epics, user stories and gap cards.
·Coordinate with offshore team functional and technical resources to resolve issues or complete enhancements.
·Communicate appropriate and timely status updates to the direct manager and project manager
·Under general supervision, provide quality documentation support for business/functional require ments gathering; process analysis; gap analysis; design of new functionality; and product testing for medium to large sized efforts.
·Develop and Author test strategy, test plans and test cases.
·Execute test cases, report test results, and work with the business to define severity and priority for each defect.
·Collaborate with others to develop strategies and best practices for QA, regression and UA efforts.
·Experience in leading requirements elicitation sessions, product demos
·Experience in documenting business requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
·Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
·Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance
·Experienced with Agile methodology and business analysis methodologies
·Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
·Strong passion for serving Insurance clients in their effort to successfully transform their business
·Deep interest in and knowledge of emerging trends impacting/likely to impact insurers, distributors and customers
·Experience with Project team delivery
·Ability to quickly understand business processes.
·Process Improvement and Simplification mindset, formal training (Lean six sigma, etc) a bonus
·Capable of identifying and troubleshooting a “less than ideal” business process
·Ability to lead and drive a project to success leveraging commonly available project management tools
·Understanding of Business and IT costs and capable of building a business case and/or determining the most cost-effective solution (manual, automation, or a mix)
·Knowledge of more than one implementation of Duck Creek Billing and Policy Server preferred
·Experience with the Duck Creek Solution Center and Content Exchange preferred
·Understanding of common integrations and cross systems processing typically involved with Duck Creek Policy and Billing systems (payment processing, address validation, financial reporting systems, etc)
·Advanced understanding of PowerBI capabilities, the creation of reports and dashboards, and the methods of distribution of reports commonly availableConfiguration capabilities within the Billing and Policy Server of Duck Creek On Demand v8 or above
·Familiarity with Duck Creek DCTServer and Forms with the ability to support periodic updates to form content.
·Additional skills and strong understanding needed with; XML and XSLT, General web technologies such as HTML, XHTML, JavaScript and General network communication / protocols (HTTP, SSL) to a level needed to engage with a technical team in troubleshooting production or development issues.
Experience:
·Duck Creek Technologies platform experience.
·Agile delivery experience
·Good Understanding ISO lines of business & Billing
·Good understanding Duck Creek On Demand Environment
·Must have implemented minimum 1 Duck Creek Project from Inception to Go Live
·Minimum of 2 years of experience in the elicitation of billing business requirements for implementation on a P&C platform such as Duck Creek
·Minimum of 2 years of experience in business consulting to Insurance (P&C) clients focused on operating model transformation, business process improvement, business capability uplift, etc. with deep knowledge of insurance billing processes, products, services, channels, functions and processes
·Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated ability to identify, shape, sell and lead management consulting work in the Insurance industry, working collaboratively with client leaders and teams
·Experience in Personal and Commercial Insurance
·Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
·Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
·Strong analytical, evaluative skills and the ability to think creatively
Department Accounting & Finance
Required Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience
Required Travel: Up to 25%
Required Education: Bachelor's degree (4-year degree)
