POSITION SUMMARY

The Corporate Human Resources Generalist will provide support for Corporate employees across Hub. The position is located in the Chicago Loop area and will also remotely support employees across the US and Canada. Position will allow some flexibility to work from home. This role reports to the VP, Corporate HR and HR Compliance Lead.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • HR Generalist support - Provide HR support to corporate employees across US and CAN. Assist with system updates, employee questions, recruiting support, and projects for several Corporate organizations and across the HR Functions. May have an opportunity to help support one or more corporate teams directly.

  • System updates and talent transactions – Provide centralized support for day-to-day HRIS ticket requests and data updates. Ensure data accuracy and efficient and timely HRIS updates. Follow through promptly on employee and leader requests and inquiries.

  • Communication Lead – As the Corporate HR team’s communication lead, will collaborate with team members and HR SME’s, create and deliver relevant content, and educate managers and employees about key talent processes and initiatives.

  • This individual will interact with HUB’s executive leadership team. With guidance, this role will need to understand the business, troubleshoot talent issues, and address employee questions directly and/or by leveraging HR shared services (payroll, recruiting, benefits, etc.).

  • Employee Experience Project leadership – Role will be responsible for employee experience initiatives. These may include: Onboarding, local and broad corporate engagement initiatives (HUB Culture Club in Chicago, Employee Appreciation Day) and a focus on community outreach and employee giving.

  • Project support - Participate in talent initiatives to create and implement talent best practices across HUB. These projects focus on all aspects of an employee’s lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, employee development, succession planning, and other aspects of an employee’s work experience.

  • Talent and Organizational Development support – Position will assist and lead a variety of learning initiatives with corporate employees including new hire orientation and specific modules of our manager and employee training curriculum.

  • Employee relations and advocacy- May assist managers and employees to resolve employee relations issues including coaching, researching/investigating situations and recommending solutions that address business needs.

  • Data Analytics & Insights – Leverage various digital tools and spreadsheets to collect, analyze, and communicate key data to leaders to facilitate educated and informed business decision making.

  • Cross-HR collaboration – Work with field HR and corporate SME colleagues to deliver the best employee experience to our internal customers.

  • Mergers and Acquisitions – Support M&A activities as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 2-3 years of HR experience including updating and leveraging HRIS systems (Workday preferred), project support, employee engagement initiatives, and experience working directly with employees.

  • Experience working with HR SME teams like payroll, benefits, compensation, and recruiting, to answer employee and manager questions and deliver on key initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Communications, or a related field.

  • PHR certification is desirable.

  • Experience in the insurance/financial services industry and/or experience with technology clients preferred

  • A solid understanding of the ever-changing state laws and proficiency or a desire to learn about HR legal requirements across the US and Canada is preferred.

  • Experience remotely supporting employees in multiple locations and countries is desirable.

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency – Excel, PowerPoint, and Workday (HRIS) are essential. Familiarity with Kronos is also helpful.

  • Experience keeping track of and processing multiple types of employee transactions across HRIS systems.

  • Proven oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact at all levels

  • Detail oriented and organized when reviewing, consolidating, and manipulating employee data.

  • Project management skills and demonstrated opportunities to drive change initiatives in the organization

  • Ability to influence business decisions using data analysis and analytics.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing business needs and demands.

  • Adaptability and ability to handle ambiguous situations.

  • Success driving local/on-site community building and engagement initiatives.
