Overview of Position

Reporting to the CHRO, the ideal candidate will serve as a thought leader and change partner with senior management, leading strategic human resources goals, programs and processes, to drive growth and business results for HUB. This individual will champion HR strategies and services within client groups and will be a true partner on a broad range of organizational issues of critical importance to the business. He/she will be a relationship builder and people motivator. The ideal candidate will also serve as an important conduit to and thought partner with the overall core HR team.

Key responsibilities include

  • Serves as a conduit to the compliment of the complete HR team, representing field perspective on work teams and enterprise projects and connects Core initiatives and field implementation.

  • Delivers effective due diligence, onboarding and acquisition integration efforts in partnership with Corporate and field-based acquisition teams.

  • Drives an employee value proposition to build upon organizational culture and support values of entrepreneurship, integrity, balance, teamwork, accountability, discipline and service.

  • Anticipates business needs and provides practical and pragmatic human resources solutions aligned with business objectives.

  • Delivers coordinated human resources services across multiple offices.

  • Oversees the talent management process through identification and assessment of strengths and development opportunities and partners with EMT and client group management in the preparation of development plans to ensure employees are prepared for future opportunities.

Additional Key Responsibilities

Coach and lead the local HR team to support the objectives of the HUB.

Talent acquisition and retention:

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to respond to the war on talent by driving improved talent acquisition and retention strategies, and enhancing prospect development in the local talent market.

  • Introduce college and/or co-op programs into the organization as a means to build talent for the future.

  • Build an employee value proposition, in connection with other enterprise efforts.

  • Leverage recruiting statistics/data dashboard to develop actionable insights.

  • Enhance onboarding experience for new colleagues.

  • Cultural assessment, integration and assimilation of acquisitions.

Talent Management:

  • Partner with the Talent Management core team on efforts to drive talent, planning, development and engagement across Hub.

  • Create training opportunities where necessary to enhance learning and development.

  • Leadership development: Continue leadership development programs underway and build/implement other development initiatives in response to talent and business needs.

  • Learning & Development: Support continued emphasis on learning and development initiatives and coaching for the organization to develop talent pipeline.

  • Succession management: Develop and execute against a succession management plan for key leaders/positions in the organization.

Employee engagement:

  • Partner with the Talent Management team to execute annual employee engagement survey and support local leaders to drive employee engagement in their departments and across the organization.

  • Lead management through analysis of annual survey results and support implementation of action plans.

  • Responsible for HUB communication strategy planning and execution.

  • Implementation of initiatives to support employee engagement.

  • Partner with Leadership Development in support of enterprise engagement initiatives.

Total Rewards/Compensation:

  • In alignment with overall Company pay philosophy, processes and practices, build and ensure adherence to pay equity requirements and title alignment for core positions.

  • Lead annual merit increase process linked to performance management results for the Corporate Hub employees.

  • Partner with Compensation & Benefits team to implement annual bonus payout process.

Employee Relations:

  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations’ issues, including but not limited to layoffs, discipline issues, terminations, hiring/selection and training. Coordinates resolution with legal and other business partners.

  • Works closely with management in an advisory role to improve work relationships, and resolve performance issues.

HR Data Integrity:

  • In partnership with the HRIS team, ensures training for employees and managers on self- service utilization of HRIS system (currently Workday) and Timekeeping system (currently Kronos).

  • Responsible for the Corporate HUB data integrity in HR systems and timely processing of updates/changes.

Maintain HR operations:

  • Ensure legal compliance and adherence to appropriate regulations.

  • Ensure adherence to and implementation of all required and appropriate standards, policies and procedures.

Integration and conduit: Provide perspectives and input into enterprise human resources policies and programs that are in development through participation on task forces, special projects and committees.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field, is required; Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business or Finance is preferred

  • PHR, SPHR certification strongly preferred

  • 7+ years of experience in a senior HR generalist capacity

  • Strong interpersonal and influence skills, including negotiation and expectations management capabilities

  • Skilled at building collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization to solve problems and implement solutions

  • Rational, confident and mature approach to decision making and inspires trust and confidence in business partner relationships

  • Well-developed critical thinking and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail

  • Highly responsive with strong orientation towards customer support

  • Understands the dynamics of a matrix organization

  • Strong MS Office Skills (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)

  • Good organizational savvy, resilient

  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability and, through personal connection, motivates people to deliver results

  • Able to simultaneously and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities

  • Insurance industry experience an asset
