The Opportunity!

As the Manager, Human Resources for the Alberta region, you will pro-actively advise, guide and support the regional leaders in day-to-day core HR processes, recruitment and talent management. You will bring solution-oriented energy, passion, and a customer service mindset focused on establishing effective partnerships with front-line and executive business leaders, providing outstanding service levels, positive team leadership and an orientation for action and results. And of course, last but not least, leading through a human-first approach. This role is perfect for an HR Generalist looking to take the next step in their career.

We are looking for a Human Resource Manager join our team in a full-time hybrid work model (remote and in office) in either our Calgary or Edmonton locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Management:

  • Performance management – support a performance and development culture

  • Leadership Development – support leadership development through local and corporate programs through sustainability within the field

  • Learning & Development – continued emphasis on learning and development initiatives and coaching for leaders; support training opportunities where necessary to enhance learning and development

  • Total rewards – support with compensation analysis and benchmarking

Employee Engagement – support leaders to drive employee engagement in their regions and across Alberta.

  • Communication planning, implementation and follow-up

  • Support with regional annual survey results and action plan implementation

  • Support with implementation of region wide initiatives to support employee engagement

Talent Acquisition and Retention:

  • Respond to the war on talent by pro-active review on the effectiveness of our talent acquisition and retention approaches

  • Maintain and increase pipeline of candidates through pro-active sourcing, inclusive of job postings, recruiting databases, internet research, social media channels and specialized sourcing methods

  • Assist with candidate pre-screening, interviews, and reference checks

  • Support with expanding talent pipelines through continued alignment with diversity, equity and inclusion and drive and champion DEI corporate initiatives

  • Leverage recruiting statistics/data dashboard and identify recommended areas of focus for action

  • Support with onboarding experience for new colleagues

Maintain Core HR Compliance:

  • Employment legal and human resources operational compliance and adherence

  • Support with employee relations issue and investigation management

  • Standards, policy and procedure adherence and implementation

Integration and Conduit:

  • Provide perspectives and input to Corporate and region-wide policies and programs that are in development through participation in task forces, special projects and committees.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Execution of talent development initiatives and optimization, total rewards, inclusive of compensation analysis and benefits support, employee engagement, talent acquisition and retention strategies in a regional capacity for HUB in ways that help develop our people and drive our business forward.

  • Develops strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Alberta leadership team. Anticipates business needs and provides practical human resources solutions aligned with the regional business priorities in a timely manner.

  • Influence outcomes through established relationships with employees, leaders, and colleagues

  • Oversees the talent management process within the field through identification and assessment of strengths and development opportunities and partners with business leaders in the preparation of development plans to ensure employees are prepared for future opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR management, business administration or related discipline

  • 3+ years of experience in a HR Generalist capacity

  • 2+ years of leadership and/or operations experience

  • Customer Service or Retail Operations experience is preferred

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with different audiences

  • Experience with compensation analysis and benchmarking considered an asset

  • Strong interpersonal and influence skills, including negotiation and expectations management

  • Skilled at building collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization to solve problems and implement solutions

  • Possess a practical and common sense, approach to decision making and inspires trust and confidence in business partner relationships

  • Well-developed critical thinking and analytical skills with strong attention to detail

  • High sense of urgency with strong orientation towards customer support

  • Strong MS Office Skills (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)

  • Good organizational savvy, resilient, agile

  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability and, through personal connection, motivates people to deliver results

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and effectively
