The Opportunity

As Associate Vice President, you’re responsible for building a strong strategic operations plan with the infrastructure to support all aspects of the sales and service of our valued commercial clients.

In conjunction with the Vice President, Commercial Insurance, this position will lead a team of Account Executives and Account Managers, providing day-to-day coaching and support to deliver exceptional client experience and sales excellence with the primary purpose of driving organic growth.

The successful candidate thrives in a collaborative and results-driven atmosphere and leverages their strong communication and interpersonal skills to build a team-oriented environment. Your passion for efficiency and process improvement has you constantly looking for opportunities to optimize resources. You’re highly skilled in planning as well as executing on your plans.

Our Burnaby office location is our head office and is centrally located in the Willingdon Business Park. This location is easily accessible by the Gilmore sky train station with many shops, restaurants, and other amenities nearby.

The Responsibilities

  • Develops annual sales plan and ensures execution

  • Direct day-to-day management of sales team

  • Coaches / Trains / Supports on sales techniques, Cross-sell initiatives and other client strategies

  • Sales team onboarding and succession planning

  • Tracks team sales metrics and report to leadership regularly

  • Attends prospect & client meetings

  • Proactively recruits new sales talent

  • Ensures compliance to policies and procedures

  • Steps in to manage client accounts during absences / vacancies

  • Apply your proven sales ability and client-focused sales acumen to both achieve your targets and for the development of your team

The Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years sales experience in commercial insurance

  • 1+ years’ experience in management / sales leadership (insurance or other industry)

  • Proven ability to lead sales team to success through the following demonstrated skills:

  • Sales planning and plan execution

  • Motivating for sales success

  • Coaching

  • Building relationships

  • Negotiation

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Hard working, reliable and dedicated to obtaining results

  • Familiar with data analysis and reporting

  • Positive and enthusiastic

  • CAIB, CIP, FCIP designations preferred

  • Level 2 general insurance license
