Insurance Accounting Supervisor Brentwood, TN

About the Position:

The Insurance Accounting Supervisor is a leader specialized in the premium payables function supporting SPG’s multiple entities. They are responsible for ensuring premiums are remitted to the carriers timely and accurately according to contractual terms, as well as ensuring broker commissions are paid to external brokers in accordance with established SLAs and SPG policies. This position reports to the SPG Sr. Accounting Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor team members and complete performance management processes in accordance with corporate requirements; basic supervision, scheduling, and time-off approvals

  • Recruitment, selection, and follow up on training of all direct reports

  • Responsible for the compliance with team Key Performance Metrics, internal controls and policy, plan regular follow up with top performers and develop improvement plans for low performers

  • Develop and review the methods and reporting used to monitor and analyzes the department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients

  • Ensure escalations are resolved timely and accurately. Drive root cause analysis to reduce future escalations

  • Assist team members in handling complex items in a timely pro-active manner that ensures compliance with procedures and guidelines

  • Identify and assist with the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflows of the department

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with client service operations team and markets

  • Participate and support regional quarterly calls, acquisition integration planning, leadership development sessions, and various project calls, as required

  • Contribute to a cooperative team environment where cross functions are assumed as necessary in order to meet department deadlines and goals

  • Collaborate with the SPG Finance Leadership team to support overall organizational and department goals and objectives

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Finance or Accounting Bachelor's Degree required

  • 4 years of Accounting or directly relevant experience preferred

  • Experience in a shared services accounting environment preferred

  • Insurance brokerage experience preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Intermediate/advanced Word and Excel skills required

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

  • High degree of accuracy with attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and proactive

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment

  • Must have some flexibility of work hours and have ability to potentially put in extra hours during peak times
