The Account Manager is accountable for delivering excellent and efficient service by supporting the account manager and day-to-day management of a small group of assigned accounts. The Account Manager has an impact on agency success by assisting in achievement of client retention goals, effectively and consistently providing client service, and fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, trust, respect and teamwork while focusing on continuous improvement.
New Business: Supports the onboarding of new client by meeting with clients, submission of applications, preparation of proposals, reviewing of benefit plan contracts and summaries of coverage, acting as liaison between client and carrier for plan options and coverage implementation in order to secure suitable, competitive coverage for clients. Maintains accurate and timely tracking and servicing documentation through agency management and document systems.
Renewals: Markets renewals on a timely basis by communicating with clients and carriers during the renewal process, creating renewal proposals/plan options, benefits plan contracts and summaries of coverage, communicating with producers as needed in order to secure suitable competitive coverage for clients at renewal. Maintain accurate and timely tracking and servicing documentation through agency management and document systems. Assist Account Manager II and III(s) in preparing renewal and new business presentation binders with content as guided as well as completing and filing required documentation for the client open enrollment process.
Retention and Client Support: Establishes relationships and clients, carriers, and vendors. Meets client service needs by responding to client requests in a timely fashion, including initiating changes requested, providing coverage information and documentation as needed, ensuring client requests are handled by carriers and acting to maintain accounts in the event of requests for cancellation. Provides support to clients concerning compliance as needed. Keeps Account Manager II(s), Account Manager, II(s) and Account Executives fully informed of important activities on accounts as needed. Also supports clients by conducting open enrollment meetings as needed.
Team Resource: Fosters an environment of innovation; serves as a resource to AMA I and II(s); engages in proactive problem solving with Account Manager II(s) and III(s), Account Executive and clients; proactively uses, and supports use of, agency resources and processes in order to ensure efficient use of time.
2-3+ years’ insurance industry experience
Knowledge of benefits insurance coverages, markets, and industry operations
Computer skills (Microsoft Suite of Products, Benefit Point or similar AMS, etc.)
Firm understanding of coverage’s and service needs of assigned clients
Strong understanding of fully insured business and developing knowledge of alternative funding options
Strong basic math skills, client focused, collaborative, detail oriented, strong organizational skills
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
Active (or willing to obtain) Tennessee Life & Health License
Department Account Management & Service
Required Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience
Required Travel: Negligible
Required Education: Bachelor's degree (4-year degree)
